Nineteen of Medvedev's 21 titles have been earned on hard surfaces
A comeback Daniil Medvedev secured his first title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.
The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has experienced a challenging season, winning just one win at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.
The player's unpredictability on the tennis tour - and issues with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time mentor his previous coach.
Now working with his coach and his other coach, the tennis star has consistently progressed in the last few weeks - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is his maiden title following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface since spring of that year.
The win also means he has won twenty-one titles at 21 various competitions.
"It's the first time I have attended a competition with my children at once, so to secure a trophy is particularly special," stated tennis professional Medvedev.
"This title is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."
The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.
Medvedev's retrieving play style and frequent emotional displays on the playing surface had prompted observers to wonder if his capacity to compete at the elite level was over.
However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the last few weeks, attempting to come to the net and compete positively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.
The champion recovered from a break down in the initial set against the tricky Frenchman, taking four of the final five points to take the lead.
The pair exchanged breaks in the following set before the Frenchman, bidding for his maiden professional victory, took control to force a final set.
Moutet saved four initial opportunities in a close deciding set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.
Appropriately, Medvedev secured the title with a shot at the net, with his opponent unable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
