This Supernatural Story
The acclaimed director pushes his directorial skills through this innovative supernatural story shot entirely from the perspective of the phantom. After a clan with Lucy Liu as Rebekah plus Callina Liang as Chloe occupies their recent residence, the lens – representing the ghost – tracks their movements. Chloe seems aware of the ghostly being, and it looks like defensive toward her. But why? The premise is enjoyable that remains concise, featuring a surprise that may be unexpected. This Saturday, multiple showings, Sky Cinema
The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
Cage embraces his unique fame in this autobiographical spoof. He portrays a self-obsessed celebrity playing himself who takes on a million-dollar gig to appear at a festive event at a Mediterranean location for billionaire Javi Gutierrez. Recruited by the CIA to spy on the alleged criminal, Cage's unconventional method proves useful. Saturday 11 October, prime time, Channel 4
This Creepy Thriller
The director's claustrophobic thriller stands strong despite the lack of a sequel. Located in the late 70s in Denver, a series of kidnappings has left the local kids on edge. After Finney gets captured by the villain and imprisoned in a cellar, he anticipates a terrible outcome. Yet the old telephone mounted nearby continues to ring, with eerie communicators offering help, as the intuitive nightmares of his sister Gwen could save him. A solid creepfest. This Saturday, 10.50pm, the Film4 channel
The Tammy Faye Biopic
In the conflict between God and Mammon, the victory is clear for materialism in this director's brilliantly over-the-top true story of the disgraced televangelist plus her lawbreaking partner. Garfield portrays the venal Jim, who proclaims at the beginning, asserting religious justification for riches. Both individuals begin profiting from the American public's spiritual convictions. It's an extravaganza of bad interior design, bad makeup and insincerity, yet Jessica Chastain achieves to depict the real-life figure as a sympathetic figure. Tuesday 14 October, late night, Film4
The Spy Mystery
The current week's another release from the filmmaker is a spy mystery as precise like the turtlenecks worn by Michael Fassbender's UK spy. He receives a mission to identify a mole inside the organization from five suspects – among them is his spouse. Both actors are masters of deadpan cool, leading to a delightful mental battle of deception or honesty takes place. Tom Burke, Regé-Jean Page, Naomie Harris and Marisa Abela join in the smart espionage amusement. This Friday, multiple time slots, Sky Cinema
